Arsenal Level Manchester United as Liverpool Level Aston Villa in the Last of EPL GW 4 Games
The jewel of EPL GW 4’s crown was a clash between legendary clubs Manchester United and Arsenal.
EPL Gameweek 4 had still more to offer as legendary Premier League clubs Arsenal and Manchester United clashed. Liverpool, on the other hand, were in a bout with Aston Villa, in a bid to prove their might. Here’s how it went down.
Arsenal Level Manchester United
The jewel of EPL GW 4’s crown was a clash between legendary clubs Manchester United and Arsenal. The bout was sublime, offering us one of the best matches in the league so far.
Marcus Rashford opened the scoring for Manchester United in the 27th minute before Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard quickly equalized for Arsenal a minute later. In a quite unusual turn of events, Man United’s Alejandro Garnacho put in a sublime goal, only for it to be denied after a VAR check ruled that he was offside.
Arsenal fans, who’d by this time had the hang of it, burst into cheer as their team had gotten a lifeline. Both teams kept going at it, up until stoppage time when 8 minutes were added on.
As if in a stroke of godly luck, Arsenal’s Declan Rice managed to slip one past United’s tight defense 6 minutes into stoppage time, with Gabriel Jesus scoring their third just 5 minutes later. Arsenal literally took it off of Man Utd’s mouth and won their 4th consecutive PL match against Man Utd.
Artetaaa… Mikel Artetaaaaa
Mikel Arteta has done superbly well this time. He seems to remain on the heels of Manchester City as he was last season, and we can now see how lethal Arsenal can be. Arsenal are a whirlwind of a success of late and we know that Arteta is still cooking up some more. As I said in GW 3, Arteta still has some cards up his sleeve.
Woe ten Hag
Manchester United played really well but lacked that extra quality icing on top. Their defense became porous the minute Harry Maguire started doing his deathly dance at the back. United put a strong foot forward but ten Hag’s woes will only increase if he keeps playing players like Maguire. In my view, Maguire should be loaned out to a club in Turkey or better yet, head to Saudi.
Liverpool Level Aston Villa
Another of yesterday’s EPL GW 4 matches was Liverpool vs Aston Villa where Klopp’s men were in a bout to prove that they’ve still got it. True to the word, Liverpool did and nicked Aston Villa a good 3-0.
Dominic Szoboszlai opened the scoring for Liverpool in just the 3rd minute, with Villa’s Matty Cash, who’d scored last week, helping Liverpool out with an own goal in the 22nd minute. To cap their lead, Mo Salah scored Liverpool’s third in the 55th minute.
Liverpool are still lukewarm at this point, and despite not performing too badly, they still need some oomph to jolt them into their true level.
Crystal Palace Edge Past Wolves
In another of EPL GW 4’s last matches, Crystal Palace managed to edge past Wolves, beating them 3-2. The star of the match was Odsonne Edouard who scored a brace for Palace. He put in his first in the 56th minute, and the second in the 84th minute. Eberechi Eze then sealed the lead for Crystal, with his impressive goal in the 78th minute.
On Wolves’ side, Hwang Hee-Chan scored their opening goal in the 65th minute, with Matheus Cunha scoring their second 6 minutes into stoppage time.
EPL Table Thus Far
The EPL Table going into the international break is as follows. Defending champions Manchester City are atop the PL Standings with 12 points, having won all their four games thus far. At number two is Ange’s men, Spurs, who have 10 points, followed by Liverpool who are third also with 10 points.
At number four is a very well-doing West Ham also with 10 points, followed by Arsenal who are fifth also with 10 points. Brighton come in at sixth with 9 points, followed by Crystal Palace who are seventh with 7 points. At number eight is Brentford, also with 6 points, followed by Nottm Forest and Aston Villa at ninth and tenth respectively, also with 6 points each.
Manchester United are a poor eleventh with 6 points, followed by Chelsea who are twelfth with a mere 4 points. The rest, as they say, need to pull up their socks!
